So I have been missing...
And this is why: Guess who is having a baby!  Self portrait shot via mirror at 20 weeks 3 days. We find out if the little one is a boy or a girl in 24 hours!  YAY! I hope to get back to blogging soon.  I have been blogging…just not here.  It is hard when  you go weeks keeping such a huge thing a secret.  Now I can let everyone in on the happy news. Boy or a girl?

Going back in time a bit... Wedding Song
I have had quite a few people ask me what song Dan and I used for our first dance song at our wedding.  This one was really hard for me.  We didn’t have a song.  I think that is fairly common for those who start dating later in their 20’s.  We listened to a lot of music and suddenly it turned into finding the perfect song.  Then one day while driving I had my Ipod on shuffle and a song...

Ummm, so it is 2011...
The past few weeks went by in a blur.  Kind of like the entire year of 2010.  When I reflect back on last year I am definitely met with mixed emotions.  While there was the biggest high ever (marriage!) there were many lows (loss).  I try to do my best and look at the positives in the good and the bad.  While it is not always easy, overall I was incredibly blessed in 2010.  Below are some...

A kind gesture that ended in heartbreak
Yesterday morning started out great.  A few of us were set to spend our morning volunteering at the local animal shelter.  We picked up a cart full of supplies that were on their “most needed” list and headed out to the shelter to spend the next few hours brushing cats and dogs, playing with the animals, and walking the dogs. Things started out great.  We spend the first hour and a...

Veterans' Day
Today take some time to thank those you know who are currently serving or have served for our country in the past. Take some time to remember what this day is about. Special thoughts go out to my Grandpa who served our country well before I was born.  You are missed and thought of everyday. Happy Veterans’ Day everyone!

Emotions
Yesterday I had an emotional day.  Nothing huge happened.  It started with one snippy comment from one person early in the day.  Then suddenly it turned into my emotions taking over and my feelings easily being hurt. We all have bad days.  However, many of us do not talk about those days and only talk about the good days.  I want this blog to be real and yesterday I just had a bad day.  Nothing...

Thoughts...
The past week something happened that has really caused me to change the way I look at a lot of things.  It happened to a community of people I don’t really know other than in blog form.  But it has caused me to reevaluate the way I view things, the things I say, the people I correspond with. Life is not always easy.  There will always be haters.  People who try to push you while you are...

Continuing With the Halloween Theme
Normally I am not one to dress my animals up in costume. However, a few weeks ago I came across two discounted Halloween costumes for dogs (4.00!) and could not resist (completely because of the pictures I knew I could take). 10 minutes later I was back at home putting Harlow and Lola in their respective costumes.  May I present to you: Doctor Harlow Dinosaur Lola I promise; they loved...

Trying to get in the Halloween Spirit...
I love holidays.  I am the person who decorates for all holidays and finds music to play during each one (Monster Mash anyone?) However, this year Halloween just snuck up too quickly.  I don’t feel prepared or ready for it nor do I feel like it is truly the end of October. But alas, it is, so I am doing my best to get in the “Halloween” spirit.  Best way to start?  Carving...

Loss
There was a sad loss in the Tumblr community this week.  I may not be as close to these people as they are to one another, but I follow their lives and there is still a closeness; a connection there. It is amazing to see this Tumblr community pull together and to see what amazing friendships these people have made.  I am hurting for you all.  Life is too short.  Love those around you. ...

Speak Now
I don’t care who knows it.  I LOVE me some Taylor Swift. :) The girl doesn’t care if people put her down.  She is who she is.  Sure she may write songs about others, but at least she writes her own lyrics.  Hers just happen to be about famous people because she hangs out with famous people.  Personally I love it.  She is honest.  So many of her lyrics hit home.  Maybe not at this...

Life...
Life is not always perfect. As things change it seems that friends change right along with it. It’s always hard when the people you felt were there for you in one situation are suddenly not there for you in another. Look for the light at the end of the tunnel.  It can come in so many shapes and forms. For me, it comes in reconnecting with friends who were sadly more background music in...

Bullying is such a horrible thing that so many people partake in.  I don’t think I have to say much more than what is said below.  I am proudly wearing my purple today.  While it may not make a huge difference, it helps others know the way I feel. kquizzo: because these kids have names and they have stories. they’re real people with families and hopes and dreams that were stamped out by...

One month ago I married my best friend...
Dan and I got married one month ago today.  It’s amazing to think that a full month has already passed.  A lot has happened in this past month.  We experienced loss but we also experienced a lot of laughter. Despite all of this, I have now been married to my very best friend for a full month.  He is the person who pushes me to be a better person.  The one who can make me feel better by...

Wedding Decorations!
One of my friends, Jen, did such a great job taking pictures of the wedding (especially all of the decorations).  I am so happy she got these for I never had time to do that.  So thanks so much Jen!  I also stole a few from Rhiannon who managed to snap some during the chaos!  A few below. :)  I went for a “nature” theme and loved the end result! My bouquet went in the vase with the...

So I got married...
Life is slowly becoming a little less chaotic which means I have a little more time for blogging. :)  And I cannot wait to catch everyone up on life.  There have been many sad things that have happened over the last 6 weeks.  Some I may talk about, some I may not, only time will tell.  Either way, today I am focusing on the happy things. I GOT MARRIED! :)  The weekend is somewhat of a blur.  I...

Hello Wedding Week!
It is finally here!  After the past 10 months of planning our wedding will happen this Saturday.  THIS SATURDAY!  4 short days from now we will be starting the crazy day.  So excited and so happy.  Still quite a bit to do.  However, it is all completely manageable.  Either way, Saturday I will be a married lady and Sunday I will be off for a week long vacation. Life is pretty good right now. :)

Randomness...
I have been an awful blogger lately. :(  I apologize; I love blogging but with a lot of things on my plate something had to go.  Promise to get back to regular blogging soon! I officially started graduate school this week to work on getting my MBA.  Woot!  The drive to Des Moines twice a week for class will most likely get tiring but so far so good. :) I get married in 2 weeks!  Crazy!!! I had...

Well hello!
Once again, I have been MIA.  Oopsie.  Life keeps getting in the way of my blogging!  Although I guess there is something to be said for getting out there and actually living life instead of talking about it.  However, I miss my blogging and I miss all of those who take the time out to read about my life. :)  Some fun things have happened since we last “spoke”. Kyley had her baby! ...

You know what makes going back to school seem much more real? Purchasing textbooks. And seeing one of the classes syllabus.  Woah.

Quick Update
Sorry I have been MIA.  I have been 100% absorbed in work and wedding planning for the past 2 weeks.  It is such a fun, yet crazy time!  However, we have been very productive: Music is picked!  YAY! Final decisions were made on decorations and name cards. :) Our entire ceremony was planned out by Dan and I.  We took pieces we liked, changed some wording on things, and made our perfect little...

In Wedding Related News...
We are now at the point in the wedding planning where things have picked up again and there is quite a bit to do.  Final meetings, final decisions, and oh yeah, some final payments. :) Best news in the past week?  We paid off our honeymoon!  YAY!  It is wonderful to see that all of our hard work in the terms of “saving” has really paid off.  We should come out of this completely...

Premarital Counseling
This past Monday Dan and I attended our first premarital counseling session.  While we are not asked to do so by our officiant, we wanted to do so ourselves and proceeded with signing up for a few counseling sessions. I really did not know what to expect in regards to these sessions.  Dan and I are both open books and we are both good in terms of communication.  However, I do feel that there is...

The Bachelorette
I have not spent much time talking about The Bachelorette on here (if at all) mainly because I haven’t had much time to talk about anything on my Blog. ABC managed to wrap me in again by doing what they do best.  Picking my most beloved contestant from a prior season and making them the next Bachelorette/Bachelor.  Dang you ABC (but at the same time kudos ABC, you know what you’re...

It's an OU wedding!
This past weekend Dan and I hopped in the car and headed back to Ohio (but this time to a different part of the state).  We were headed to Athens, home of the Bobcats.  I admit, coming from Marshalltown, Iowa, I am used to the red and blue Bobcats so was a little thrown off by the green Bobcats, but whatever. Anyway, we had the joy of being a part of one of Dan’s college friends (and...

The story of how our new family member came to...
Well kind of.  I will skip ahead to the point in time where I found him. It all began on a day much like today.  It was around 6:45 in the morning and I was walking from my car into work, as I do each day Monday-Friday.  All of a sudden, right before I get to the steps, I hear a small “meow”.  I turn around and what do I see?  A small (and I mean very small) kitten curled up by the...

Flat Tire Morning
I could think of better ways to start my morning than walking out and finding a completely flat tire on my little car.  On a day that I have to drive to Des Moines for an appointment of course. ;)  There was no time to deal with the flat tire (it was FLAT…no way to drive it to get air in it) so unfortunately it will just have to sit there in all its flat tire glory until tonight when I can...

Oh, did I mention we got a kitten?
Meet Jasper, the newest member of the family. For those who remember my tweets from last week, yes, he is the same kitten I found by the garbage at work.  After his trip to the ARL where he received a clean bill of health (as well as the okay that he was old enough to be adopted) we picked him up last night.  Yes, our house is officially turning into a zoo. :)  And yes, the dogs actually do...
